WHY BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE
Benzalkonium chloride is an alcohol-free antimicrobial compound that has been widely used in the health care industry for more than 60 years in formulas for preservatives, sterilizing agents, and leave-on, anti-bacterial skin treatment products. It’s also been used in many contact lens disinfecting solutions. At 0.13%, it is an extremely safe, non-toxic and very effective amount for use in hand sanitizers for reducing bacteria on the skin, yet it is very gentle on the skin and eyes. Benzalkonium chloride hand sanitizer dries fast, but allows more than sufficient time for efficacious coverage.
